Dogwood Veterinary Specialty and Emergency is growing, and we’re building our Surgery team across multiple locations.
We’re seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician who will support our established Marietta hospital while also helping launch and grow our new Dunwoody hospital, opening October 2026.
This is a hybrid, multi-location opportunity. The successful candidate will need to be comfortable traveling between Marietta and Dunwoody based on hospital needs, surgical schedules, and team coverage.
The Surgery team will operate on a set schedule determined by the hospital team throughout the interview process, with the expectation that team members will also participate in the hospital’s on-call schedule.

Help Build Our Surgery Service
As a Surgical Veterinary Technician, you’ll play an important role in developing our surgery service and supporting advanced specialty procedures.
You’ll have opportunities to:
- Prepare patients for specialty surgery and advanced procedures
- Prepare and maintain the surgical suite, equipment, and instrumentation
- Support surgeons throughout surgical procedures
- Maintain sterile technique and surgical field integrity
- Provide advanced surgical nursing and intraoperative patient care
- Assist with patient positioning and procedural preparation
- Support surgical procedures involving complex and high-risk patients
- Perform anesthesia induction, maintenance, and recovery as part of the perioperative team
- Monitor ECG, pulse oximetry, capnography, blood pressure, temperature, and other parameters
- Recognize and communicate changes in patient status throughout procedures
- Administer medications and treatments
- Provide postoperative monitoring and nursing care
- Maintain accurate surgical, anesthesia, and treatment records
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, specialists, anesthesia personnel, emergency clinicians, and nursing teams
What We’re Looking For
This opportunity is designed for an experienced veterinary technician who is ready to bring strong technical skills into a specialty surgical environment.
You may be a great fit if you have:
- 2+ years of veterinary clinical experience
- Experience in surgery, specialty, emergency, anesthesia, or high-volume practice
- Strong surgical nursing and perioperative patient care skills
- Experience preparing patients and surgical suites for procedures
- Confidence with sterile technique and surgical protocols
- Experience supporting complex or specialty surgical cases
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A desire to continue developing your technical expertise
- Flexibility to support the team’s established schedule and on-call rotation
- Ability to travel between Marietta and Dunwoody as required
Credentialing is valued but not required for this opportunity. Experience with orthopedic or specialty surgery, surgical nursing, advanced anesthesia, or complex postoperative care is highly valued. RECOVER CPR certification is a plus.
Physical & Work Environment
This is an active specialty hospital environment. Team members should be comfortable:
- Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching throughout the workday
- Lifting and assisting with patients weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance when appropriate
- Safely handling patients of varying sizes, temperaments, and medical conditions
- Performing hands-on technical procedures requiring manual dexterity
- Working in a fast-paced surgical environment
- Participating in an on-call schedule as determined by the hospital team
The role may involve exposure to animal dander, cleaning and disinfecting products, medical odors, blood and bodily fluids, anesthetic gases, and other conditions associated with veterinary patient care.
