Overview

Ready to lead a hospital without stepping away from the medicine you love?

At Bedford Veterinary Medical Centre, you'll have the opportunity to shape medical standards, mentor an experienced team, and influence the direction of the hospital - while continuing to see patients and practice medicine.

We're currently offering a $125,000 signing bonus package for an experienced veterinarian ready to step into this Medical Director opportunity.

You'll have strong operational support behind you, allowing you to focus your leadership on what matters most: medicine, your doctors, and the clinical culture of the hospital.

Quick Snapshot

  • $125K signing bonus package
  • Medical Director leadership opportunity
  • 3-DVM team - you + 2 experienced veterinarians
  • Maintain an active clinical caseload
  • Strong operational support
  • Experienced technician and support team
  • Predictable scheduling and work-life balance
  • Established small animal practice

Lead Medicine - Not a Desk

This is a clinical leadership role, not a traditional administrative position.

As Medical Director, you'll help set the clinical direction of the hospital, support and mentor your fellow veterinarians, and create an environment where the entire medical team can succeed.

You'll also continue doing what you became a veterinarian to do - practice medicine and care for patients.

Strong operational leadership is already in place, so you won't be expected to manage every administrative detail of the hospital. You'll collaborate closely with the Hospital Manager while focusing your leadership on medical quality, doctor development, and patient care.

Your Role as Medical Director

You'll have the opportunity to:

  • Establish and uphold medical quality standards
  • Mentor and support associate veterinarians
  • Collaborate with the Hospital Manager on hospital goals and operations
  • Guide case management and patient care protocols
  • Help foster a positive, accountable team culture
  • Maintain an active clinical caseload
  • Influence the future direction of the hospital

This could be a great next step for an experienced veterinarian who is ready for more influence and leadership without giving up clinical practice or work-life balance.

What It's Like to Practice Here

Bedford Veterinary Medical Centre is a well-established small animal practice with an experienced team and a culture built around collaboration, consistency, and quality medicine.

This isn't a high-volume, high-pressure environment. You'll have the time and support to work cases up thoughtfully, support your fellow doctors, and lead effectively.

Our experienced technicians and support staff understand hospital workflow and allow our veterinarians to stay focused on medicine.

We value:

  • Thoughtful appointment pacing
  • Thorough case workups
  • Collaborative medicine
  • Strong technician support
  • Predictable scheduling
  • Clinical autonomy
  • Work-life balance

If you're looking for an opportunity to lead a hospital while still being a veterinarian first, Bedford could be a great fit.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for an experienced veterinarian who is ready to take the next step in their career and make a meaningful impact on a hospital and its team.

You could be a great fit if you:

  • Enjoy mentoring and supporting other veterinarians
  • Care deeply about medical quality and standards
  • Want a voice in hospital direction
  • Value collaboration with operational leadership
  • Still want to maintain an active clinical caseload
  • Believe great leadership and work-life balance can coexist

Previous Medical Director experience is valuable, but strong leadership potential and the desire to grow into the role are equally important.
